The minimum acceptable weights for truckload and railcar shipments of Used Beverage Container (UBC) scrap by form type are outlined in the table below:

Deficient weight charges will apply when the gross weight minus the tare weight (prior to moisture and dunnage deductions) is less than the minimum weight shown above.  For loads originating in Eastern States, the shipper will be charged $.020/lb. on the amount of deficient weight (see Example 1).  For loads originating in Western States, the shipper will be charged $.0475/lb. on the amount of deficient weight (see Example 2).       

For the purposes of this policy, Western States include:  WA, OR, CA, ID, NV, MT, WY, CO, UT, AZ, and NM in the United States, plus AB and BC in Canada.  All other U.S. states are in the Eastern States category.
